Making Dahl 5 pm on TikTok and Instagram

Today at 5 pm Pacific, I’m making one of my favorite comforting meals: a big pot of Dahl — creamy, spiced red lentils that are simple, nourishing, and perfect for cooler days or weeknights when you want something soothing but satisfying.

This isn’t just any lentil dish. It’s inspired by the Quick & Easy Dāl (Red Lentil) from a recipe I’ve been loving lately — a dish that’s Mediterranean diet–friendly, GLP-1 friendly, plant-forward, and quietly powerful in the nutrition department. You can add meat if you wish, but no need.

And it is live - which means anything can happen. We could lose power, the dog could drink loudly, and I will try to answer questions with the help of my producer. But this is such an easy recipe, I doubt we can screw it up.

Oh, yes, there are many ways to spell it and pronounce Daahl.

Lentils are a nutritional powerhouse — rich in fiber, plant protein, and complex carbs that keep you full and energized. They pair beautifully with aromatics like garlic, ginger, turmeric, and cumin — spices that add warmth and depth without heaviness.
